Welcome!

Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement (I.C.E.) Team Strengthening the links between, research practice, and public policy to reduce the burden of tobacco website. The ICE program is a strategic initiative aimed at providing leadership to advance the science and practice of tobacco control in Canada. There are three funded ICE teams in Canada - one housed at the University of Waterloo (Dr. Paul McDonald), one at McGill University (Dr. Paul Clarke), and one at the University of Montreal (Dr. Jennifer O’Loughlin). The ICE program is funded by the Canadian Tobacco Control Research Initiative, the Canadian Institute of Health Research, the Canadian Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute of Canada, Health Canada, the Canadian Lung Association, and l’Association pulmonaire du Québec.

The aim of the ICE program housed at the University of Montreal is to investigate the etiology and treatment of tobacco use behavior through the development of an interdisciplinary, public health and university-partnered team of tobacco control researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers. Our goal is to facilitate two-way knowledge exchange that fosters the development of research that reflects practitioners' needs, and translation of results into relevant preventive and clinical practice and policy.
